“The poetics of Mirosława Smerek-Bielecka’s paintings inspire memories. In earlier periods of her work she captured” a lot in a simple form, closing her “stories” in trunks, suitcases, handbags. Her paintings include cycles of Suitcases, Handbags, Folders. In the newer paintings she presents genre and figural scenes in a simplified landscape. In her painting she refers to the layers of human memory, imagination and deeply rooted archetypes.”
